Inseparable Three-Legged Dog and Cat Find Their ‘Forever Home’ Together
This is the story of Blueberry, a one-year-old French bulldog mix, and Meadow, a nine-month-old black cat, who formed an inseparable bond while recovering from matching surgeries.
The Bond
Both animals arrived at a veterinary hospital in Maryland after suffering traumatic injuries that required amputations. Blueberry was found on a roadside with a necrotic leg, while Meadow arrived with part of her hind leg missing. As they recovered at Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, the two became best friends. They spent their days cuddling, chasing each other on three legs, and sharing toys, becoming essentially inseparable.
The Viral Search for a Home
Last month, the rescue organization shared its story on social media, expressing a strong desire to find a home that would take both of them. The post went viral, resulting in thousands of adoption inquiries from across North America.
The Adoption
The pair was ultimately adopted by Rachel Clarke and Kevin Tsang of Fort Washington, Maryland. The couple was considered an ideal match for several reasons:
- Experience: They already own a three-legged cat named Cici and a four-legged cat named Sherlock, so they understand the physical adjustments and safety precautions needed for "tripod" pets.
- Proximity: Living in Maryland allows the pets to continue seeing the same veterinary team that handled their initial recoveries.
- Commitment: The couple explicitly stated they had no intention of separating the pair, telling The Washington Post, "Fate brought them together, right? We don’t want to take them apart."
Life Today
Blueberry and Meadow officially moved into their new home on March 28, 2026. While Meadow has quickly adapted to her three legs, Blueberry is still finding her footing but remains "happy and joyful." The couple is currently transitioning them into the household by keeping them in a sun-drenched guest room, with plans to fully integrate them with their other two cats soon.
