The AKC recently released its list of the most popular dog names for 2025, and the results reflect a mix of timeless classics and some surprising new favorites. In the world of boy dogs, 2025 is the year of the comeback. Max has reclaimed its throne as the #1 most popular name after being temporarily unseated last year. It’s a classic for a reason—short, strong, and universally beloved.

On the girls' side, Luna remains the undisputed queen, holding onto the top spot once again. With its ethereal and sweet sound, it continues to be the go-to choice for many new pet parents.

The most exciting part of this year's list is the "shakeup" in the top rankings. On the boys' side, Hank made a legendary leap, jumping from 35th place all the way to #2! Meanwhile, for the girls, Ruby sparkled her way into the top five, climbing from 16th place last year to take the #5 spot.
