Giving Tuesday: Lucky Dog Animal Rescue
For this Giving Tuesday, we wanted to highlight our friends at Lucky Dog Animal Rescue!
Here is a story our pals at Lucky Dog wanted to share:
Five and a half months ago, Lucky Dog volunteers found 18 puppies living in the rubble of a collapsed building in Puerto Rico. Only 5-6 weeks old at the time, the tiny babies were scrappy survivors who faced an uphill battle living on the streets. So we took them in. Paid for vaccines, deworming, and boarding at a vet clinic in San Juan. Then, we transported them to our Rescue Campus in South Carolina until they were healthy enough to travel to fosters in Northern Virginia. Now, five months later, fifteen of the eighteen have found their forever homes. But Lucky Dog is not giving up on them. We stick with the dogs and cats we rescue until they find their happily ever after -- whether it takes 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year.
Lucky Dog's adoption program is 100% foster-based. Powered by an army of volunteers, we find loving homes for nearly 3,000 animals every year without a physical adoption center. We have no state or federal funding. Instead, we rely on the support of amazing supporters who believe that it’s worth changing the world one Lucky Dog at a time.
